Catathelasma imperiale (Quél.) Singer

Fruit body: cap up to 20 cm, fleshy, rounded then expanded, at the end depressed, chestnut gold with dark patches, long involute margins. Gills are crowded, whitish, decurrent. Stem is up to 15x5 cm, narrower towards base, whitish under gills, cracked and brownish under double ring.

Microscopy: spores elongated ellipsoid, fusiform, smooth, amyloid, 12—15x5.5—7 μm, whitish en masse.

Flesh: hard, whitish, somewhat sour taste and smell like cucumber.

Habitat: season autumn, under mountainous coniferous woods on calcareous terrains.

Edibility: edible, suitable for pickling.
