Hericium coralloides (Scop.) Pers.

Fruit body: up to 20 cm, branched, whitish to pale cream. Hymenial surface consists of regularly arranged spikes up to 1 cm.

Microscopy: spores ellipsoid to globose, almost smooth, amyloid, 3.5-4.5x3-3.5 µm

Flesh: fragile, whitish, slightly translucent, sweetish taste.

Habitat: on deciduous deadwood, mostly beech (Fagus).

Edibility: edible when young, although it is practically impossible to clean it from wood debris.
