Lactarius semisanguifluus R. Heim & Leclair

Fruit body: cap up to 10 cm, depressed, faintly zonate, ochraceous and orange, intensively turning green, margin involute. Gills are decurrent, orange, reddish towards base, becoming green when bruised. Stem is up to 8x2 cm, in shades of cap colour, turning green when touched, sometimes with shallow pits.

Microscopy: spores broadly ellipsoid, ornamented with network, 8—10x6.5—9 μm, pale ochraceous en masse.

Flesh: pastel orange, orange towards margin, when cut becomes blood red in few minutes, then vinaceous red and at the end green, fruity smell and mild taste. Milk is first orange, then blood red and much later wine red.

Habitat: season autumn, under Scots pine (Pinus silvestris), on calcareous terrains. Not common.

Edibility: edible.
