Leucopaxillus giganteus (Sowerby) Singer

Fruit body: cap up to 30 cm, very depressed in centre, matted, whitish, with age cracks start to appear from centre onwards, margin at first involute, later flatten with some striates. Gills are medium crowded, decurrent, easily detached from cap, whitish to cream. Stem is up to 10x5 cm, whitish to cream.

Microscopy: spores ellipsoid, smooth, amyloid, 6—8x4—5.5 μm.

Flesh: whitish, with pleasant fungal smell and fragrance of almond.

Habitat: season summer and autumn, on meadows and edges of woods. Not common.

Edibility: edible.
