FAIRY RING MUSHROOM

Fruit body: cap up to 7 cm, rounded then expanded, sometimes with broad umbo, ochraceus, darker when moist. Gills are distant, cream. Stem is up to 8x0.5 cm, fibrous, hard, colour as cap.

Microscopy: spores ellipsoid to slightly almond-shape, 8-10x4-6 μm, whitish en masse.

Flesh: in stem hard, in cap soft, mild taste, pleasant smell as fresh sawdust.

Habitat: season spring to autumn, in lawns and meadows, usually in dense fairy rings.

Edibility: edible, priced, suitable for drying, collected for commercial  purposes. quantities for sale.
